About NearMe.SG
Some links on nearme.sg are affiliate links. If you buy or apply through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. See our affiliate disclosure.
What nearme.sg is
nearme.sg is an independent guides site for people in Singapore. We write practical guides on things like finding a private driving instructor, buying property, comparing insurance and other money products, and choosing home appliances and everyday buys.
We’re a small blog, not a directory or a review platform. We don’t host user reviews or ratings, and we don’t have business listings with search filters. Each guide is an article we research and write, and we’re working through older guides to recheck them.
How we’re funded
The site is free to read. It’s paid for by affiliate links:
Shopee: we’re part of the Shopee Affiliate Program (Singapore). If you buy through one of our Shopee links, Shopee may pay us a commission.
SingSaver (through Creatory): some links to credit cards and insurance go to SingSaver. We join SingSaver’s programme through Creatory, the MoneyHero Group’s affiliate platform. If you apply through these links, we may earn a commission. We don’t have affiliate links for investment platforms, brokers or robo-advisers.
Most of our product picks are items sold on Shopee that we can link to and earn commission on, so whether we can link to a product on Shopee affects which products we list. No brand or seller pays us to be included or ranked, and brands don’t review our guides before they’re published. The full details are in our affiliate disclosure.
We aren’t owned by or connected to any of the centres, agencies, banks, insurers or shops we cover, apart from the affiliate links we disclose on each page.
We also run a separate Singapore property site, and some of our guides link to it.
How we research a guide
For new and updated guides, we start with primary sources. These include government agencies such as the Singapore Police Force (SPF) Traffic Police, the Land Transport Authority (LTA), the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), IRAS and the National Environment Agency (NEA), industry bodies such as the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA), and the official pages of brands, shops, insurers and driving centres.
We link our sources in new and updated guides, so you can check the original.
We say where numbers come from. In new and updated guides, tables of figures, such as driving test pass rates, carry a source line naming the publisher and the data period.
We don’t make things up. For new and updated guides, that means no made-up prices, figures, quotes or reviews. If we can’t confirm something, we leave it out or say it’s unconfirmed. Some older guides don’t meet this yet, and we’re rechecking them.
Unless a guide says otherwise, we haven’t tested the products ourselves. Product picks are based on published specs, official product pages, listed prices and, where a guide says so, buyer reviews on Shopee.
How we use AI tools
We use AI tools to help research and draft guides. For new and updated guides, we check facts and figures against the sources we link before we publish.
How we date and update guides
Prices, rules and offers in Singapore change often. We’re adding a “Checked” date to guides as we recheck them, for example “Checked 18 Oct 2026”.
When we find that a rule or figure has changed, we update the guide and its “Checked” date. We don’t change a guide’s “Checked” date unless we’ve actually rechecked it.
Prices on Shopee and other shops can change at any time. Check the current price and terms before you buy.
More detail is in our editorial policy.
General information only
Our guides are general information. They aren’t financial, legal, insurance, tax or medical advice, and they don’t take your personal circumstances into account. We aren’t a licensed financial adviser and we can’t recommend a product for you. For decisions about money, insurance, property or your health, check the official source and speak to a licensed or qualified professional.
Corrections and contact
Spotted something wrong or out of date? Email contactus@nearme.sg or use our contact page. Tell us which page and what needs fixing, with a link to the source if you have one. We check each correction against the source, and if we confirm something is wrong, we fix the guide and update its “Checked” date.
