nearme.sg is the name of this website. It is not a company or registered business. It is operated by an individual based in Singapore (“we”, “us”), who is the organisation responsible for your personal data. We’ll provide the operator’s full legal name on request at contactus@nearme.sg.

This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal data under Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

1. What we collect, and why

• Free guides and checklists. When you request a guide, we collect your name and email address and the page you used. We use them only to send you the guide. Requesting a guide does not add you to any mailing list. The form is processed by FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), a third-party form service that emails your details to us. Its servers may be outside Singapore.
• Newsletter sign-ups. When you sign up through the form on our home or contact page, or the pop-up on some articles, we collect your email address, your name if you give it, and a record of your consent. Some pop-ups also give you a link to a free guide. We don’t currently send any emails. We’ll only use your email to send a newsletter if we start one, and every email will have an unsubscribe link.
• Contact form and email. When you message us, we collect your name, email address and message, so we can reply.
• Website use. Our web host and security tools process your IP address and browser details to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Google Analytics collects usage data (see section 3).

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

2. Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links to Shopee (s.shopee.sg links) and to SingSaver (apply.creatory.singsaver.com.sg links, through its Creatory programme). When you click one, Shopee or SingSaver may set cookies or add tracking parameters to the link, so that they can tell a purchase or application came from this site. These cookies are set only after you click through, not when you simply visit nearme.sg. We do not receive your name, contact details or what you personally bought. We receive only aggregated or anonymised commission reports. Once you are on their sites, their privacy policies apply:

3. Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 (through the MonsterInsights plugin) to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets two cookies on nearme.sg, _ga and _ga_0T3D51KZ5J, which can last up to 2 years. It collects your IP address, device and browser details, and the pages you view. We use these figures only in aggregate.

We do not show ads and do not use advertising cookies.

How to opt out:

• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

If you keep using the site without opting out, we treat you as having consented to analytics cookies, as the PDPA allows.

4. Service providers and overseas transfers

We use these providers to run the site:

• Hostinger: web hosting, the WordPress database (which stores pop-up sign-ups and some form entries) and our mailbox (Hostinger Email), which receives newsletter and contact-form submissions by email.
• Google (Gmail): our website sends form notification emails through a Google email account, so your details pass through Google’s servers, which may be outside Singapore.
• Wordfence (Defiant Inc., US): the site’s security firewall, which checks visitor IP addresses for abuse.
• Google: Google Analytics.
• FormSubmit (formsubmit.co): processes the free-guide forms and emails your name and email address to us. Its servers may be outside Singapore.

Some of these providers store or process data outside Singapore. We take steps to make sure they protect your data to a standard comparable to the PDPA, for example by using providers bound by contractual data-protection terms.

5. How long we keep it

• Newsletter sign-ups: if we haven’t started a newsletter within 12 months of your sign-up, we delete your details. Once we do email you, we keep them while you’re subscribed and delete them within 30 days after you unsubscribe.
• Free-guide requests: up to 12 months, unless you also sign up for the newsletter.
• Messages to us: up to 12 months after our last reply.
• Analytics: Google Analytics keeps event data for 14 months (our account setting).

When we no longer need the data, we delete it or anonymise it.

6. Your choices and rights

• Withdraw consent: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or email us. We will stop using your data for that purpose. If withdrawing means we can’t do something you asked for (for example, sending you a guide), we’ll tell you.
• Access and correction: you can ask what personal data we hold about you and how it has been used in the past year, or ask us to correct it. We normally reply within 30 days. If we need longer, we’ll tell you when we expect to reply. We may charge a reasonable fee for an access request, and we’ll tell you the amount first.

7. How we protect it

We collect only what we need. Access to form entries, the mailbox and the site’s admin is limited to the operator, using strong passwords and two-factor authentication. The site runs over HTTPS and uses a security firewall.

If a data breach happens, we will assess it promptly (within 30 days). If it is likely to cause you significant harm, or affects 500 or more people, we will notify the Personal Data Protection Commission within 3 calendar days of that assessment and, where required, tell the people affected.
