This is general product information based on makers’ published specs, not medical advice. We haven’t tested these products.
Short answer: start with the free steps: close the windows when haze worsens and use aircon or fans for cooling. If you buy one thing, NEA says a portable air purifier with a HEPA filter can further reduce indoor particle levels; size it to your bedroom. Several listings we checked on 27 Oct 2026 were on pre-order, so check delivery dates.
If you need something this week
- Free, today: close doors and windows when the air worsens, use the aircon or fans for cooling, and wet-mop settled dust (NEA’s tips, below).
- Masks: eligible Singaporeans can collect free N95 (or equivalent) masks; find collection points on HazeMaskGoWhere. MOH says (haze page, last updated 21 Oct 2026) N95 masks are also generally available at major pharmacies and supermarkets. For who should wear one, see HealthHub’s haze page (accessed 25 Oct 2026).
- Purifiers: several purifier listings we checked on 27 Oct 2026 were on pre-order or quoted December or January delivery. The Levoit listings were on pre-order with delivery estimated for 21 to 22 Jan, and the Dreame NP10 showed 23 to 24 Dec. Check the delivery estimate on the listing before you buy.
PSI today: at 7am on 27 Oct 2026, NEA’s 24-hour PSI was 62 to 71 (Moderate in all five regions), and the 1-hour PM2.5 was in Band 1 (Normal). A 24-hour PSI of 101 or above is Unhealthy. Readings change hourly, so check haze.gov.sg or the myENV app for the latest.
How we chose
- We compared makers’ published specs: CADR, filter type, rated power and filter life.
- We sized each purifier using NEA’s CADR rule and worked out running costs from the rated power and SP Group’s current tariff.
- Owner feedback comes from Shopee reviews we read on each listing on 25 Oct 2026. We summarise what came up and label it as owner feedback, not our testing.
- We earn a commission on Shopee links, and whether a product is on Shopee affects which products we list. No brand or seller pays to be included or ranked.
What to do at each PSI level
NEA publishes a 24-hour PSI forecast to plan the next day, and a 1-hour PM2.5 reading for what you do right now. The activity column below is MOH’s advisory for healthy people (MOH haze page, last updated 21 Oct 2026). The home column is our summary of NEA’s indoor tips, matched to each band by us.
| 24-hr PSI (NEA band) | MOH advice for healthy people (next day) | At home (our summary of NEA’s tips) |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 50 (Good) | Normal activities | No changes needed. |
| 51 to 100 (Moderate) | Normal activities | Check the 1-hr PM2.5 before outdoor plans. Keep windows open unless readings worsen. |
| 101 to 200 (Unhealthy) | Reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion | Close doors and windows while air quality is worse. Use fans or aircon for cooling, run a purifier in a closed room, wet-mop settled dust. |
| 201 to 300 (Very Unhealthy) | Avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion | As above. Keep the room you sleep in closed with the purifier running. |
| Above 300 (Hazardous) | Minimise outdoor activity | As above. PA haze shelters at community clubs extend their hours to 10pm when the 24-hr PSI is above 300 (The Straits Times, 14 Oct 2026). |
Elderly people, pregnant women, children and people with chronic heart or lung disease get stricter advice at each band, so check the full MOH table. NEA’s 1-hour PM2.5 bands are Band 1 Normal (0 to 55 µg/m³), Band 2 Elevated (56 to 150), Band 3 High (151 to 250) and Band 4 Very High (251 and above), per haze.gov.sg on 25 Oct 2026.
Free and no-cost steps first
These are from NEA’s practical tips for reducing haze particles at home (NEA air pollution FAQs, accessed 25 Oct 2026):
- Close doors and windows when outdoor air quality appears to be worsening, and re-open them when it improves.
- Stay indoors and reduce physical activity.
- Cut indoor sources of air pollution. NEA’s examples are cigarettes and candles.
- Wet-clean (mop or wipe) to remove settled dust. NEA notes that, unlike dry-dusting or vacuuming, wet-cleaning generally doesn’t stir up dust.
- Use fans or air-conditioners for circulation and cooling. If your air-conditioner draws unfiltered air from outside (for example, a window unit), close the outdoor air intake.
Free masks and shelters: from 23 Oct 2026, community clubs are giving out a second round of N95 (or equivalent) masks to eligible Singaporeans, and air-conditioned haze shelters are open at selected community clubs and RC and RN centres (People’s Association, last updated 23 Oct 2026). Collection points are on HazeMaskGoWhere.
Aircon filters: clean them as your unit’s manual recommends. If the unit is due for servicing, see our aircon servicing guide.
Haze essentials compared
One row per category. CADR and power are makers’ figures; room sizes and running costs are our estimates. Availability is from the Shopee listings we checked on 27 Oct 2026 and changes quickly.

HEPA air purifiers: size them by CADR
NEA says portable air purifiers can further reduce indoor particle levels, and that highly efficient filters such as HEPA are preferred for fine particles. For sizing, NEA’s rule is that a purifier’s smoke CADR in m³/h should be at least 5 times the room’s volume in m³. NEA’s own examples: about 130 to 156 m³/h for a typical 10 to 12 m² HDB bedroom, and about 260 to 325 m³/h for a 20 to 25 m² living room (NEA FAQs, accessed 25 Oct 2026). NEA uses 7 times instead of 5 for units with electronic air-cleaning technologies, and for rooms where ventilation can’t easily be improved, such as rooms with no operable windows. Some makers publish a particle CADR rather than a smoke CADR, so room sizes for those models are rough. Purifiers work most effectively with the doors and windows closed.
We list two below, both from Levoit: the Core 200S for a small bedroom and the Core 300S for a larger one. To compare more models by room size, see our guide to air purifiers in Singapore. If you’re weighing a purifier against a humidifier, our air purifier vs humidifier explainer covers the difference.
Running costs below use SP Group’s regulated household tariff for 1 Oct to 31 Dec 2026 (Q4 2026): 31.16 cents/kWh including GST, and assume top speed for 12 hours a day over 30 days, so most homes will spend less. Room sizes assume a 2.6m ceiling.
Levoit Core 200S
Verdict: A small-bedroom purifier: 152 m³/h CADR suits a room of up to about 11 m² on NEA’s rule.
- CADR 152 m³/h; 3-stage filter (pre-filter, HEPA, activated carbon); rated power 38W (Levoit SG).
- Levoit SG listed it at S$139 as a pre-order (end November) on 27 Oct 2026, and the Shopee listing also showed pre-order that day, with delivery estimated for 21 to 22 Jan, so check the delivery date.
Our numbers (our calculations from the maker’s specs)
- CADR vs room: 152 ÷ 5 ÷ 2.6m = a room of about 11 m².
- Filter cost per year: Levoit SG gives a filter life of 8 months, so about 1.5 filters a year. Filter price: check live price.
- Electricity: 38W × 12 h × 30 days = 13.7 kWh, about S$4.26 a month.
What owners say (from Shopee reviews, not our testing)
Shopee rating: 4.9 (325 ratings). Shopee reviews read 25 Oct 2026.
In the reviews we read, several owners said it’s quiet, and others liked the app and scheduling, the sleep mode or nightlight, and the value when it was on sale. The low ratings we saw were about noise.
- Positive: “not noisy to me, and sleep mode is very quiet. great buy!” (Shopee review, Feb 2025)
- Negative, 2 stars: “Very loud at night.” (Shopee review, Jun 2026)
Check live price on Shopee: Levoit Core 200S
Levoit Core 300S
Verdict: For a master bedroom: 258 m³/h CADR suits a room of up to about 19 m², with a filter price Levoit lists.
- CADR 258 m³/h; 3-stage filter (pre-filter, HEPA, activated carbon); rated power 39W (Levoit SG).
- Levoit SG listed it at S$219 as a pre-order (end November) on 27 Oct 2026, and its original replacement filter at S$47.90. The Shopee listing also showed pre-order that day, with delivery estimated for 21 to 22 Jan, so check the delivery date.
Our numbers (our calculations from the maker’s specs)
- CADR vs room: 258 ÷ 5 ÷ 2.6m = a room of about 19 m².
- Filter cost per year: Levoit SG recommends a new filter every 6 to 8 months: 1.5 to 2 filters, about S$72 to S$96 a year at S$47.90 each (Levoit SG, 25 Oct 2026).
- Electricity: 39W × 12 h × 30 days = 14.0 kWh, about S$4.37 a month.
What owners say (from Shopee reviews, not our testing)
Shopee rating: 4.9 (about 1.5k ratings). Shopee reviews read 25 Oct 2026.
In the reviews we read, several mentioned the app or Wi-Fi control, quiet running, fast delivery, the value on sale and an easy filter swap. The low ratings we saw mentioned noise, doubt that it really purifies, one unit that wouldn’t power on and one delivery problem.
- Positive: “Very quiet operation. Didn’t even notice it is running at night.” (Shopee review, Sep 2024)
- Negative, 2 stars: “Very noisy. Not sure if it’s really purifying the air” (Shopee review, Oct 2025)

Purifier fans: one unit for cooling and filtering
A purifier fan makes sense if you need a fan anyway and want one less appliance. Compare it with a dedicated purifier on the same number: the maker’s CADR. If a brand doesn’t publish a CADR, you can’t size it on NEA’s rule. NEA also says the overall smoke CADR should be at least 7 times the room volume, rather than 5, for units with electronic air-cleaning technologies and for rooms where ventilation can’t easily be improved.
Availability: the Dreame NP10 listing was on pre-order when we checked on 27 Oct 2026, with delivery estimated for 23 to 24 Dec 2026, so it may not arrive in time for this haze episode.
Dreame Air Purifier Fan NP10
Verdict: A 400 m³/h particulate CADR (roughly 22 m² on NEA’s 7× rule) and a washable filter, but its filtration is electrostatic rather than HEPA, and when we checked on 27 Oct 2026 it was on pre-order, with delivery estimated for 23 to 24 Dec.
- Particulate CADR 400 m³/h; washable electrostatic filtration, no HEPA replacement; PM2.5 sensor; rated power 28W (Dreame SG).
- Sold by Dreame Official Store (Shopee Mall). Pre-order, delivery estimated 23 to 24 Dec 2026 when we checked on 27 Oct 2026. Check live price.
Our numbers (our calculations from the maker’s specs)
- CADR vs room: about 22 m² on NEA’s 7× rule for units with electronic air-cleaning (400 ÷ 7 ÷ 2.6m). Dreame publishes a particulate CADR, not a smoke CADR, and its SG page doesn’t say the electrostatic filter is passive, so treat this as a rough guide.
- Filter cost per year: S$0 on Dreame’s washable-filter spec.
- Electricity: 28W × 12 h × 30 days = 10.1 kWh, about S$3.14 a month.
What owners say (from Shopee reviews, not our testing)
Shopee rating: 5.0 (9 ratings, all from Sep to Oct 2026). Shopee reviews read 25 Oct 2026.
There are too few reviews yet to summarise, and almost none had written comments.

What to look for in a PM2.5 monitor
A home monitor shows whether the PM2.5 level in your room falls once the windows are shut and the purifier is on. Treat it as a trend, not an official reading: the US EPA notes that low-cost sensors may be inaccurate, may need calibration, and that high humidity can affect readings. Indoor and outdoor readings differ because closed windows and a purifier change what reaches the sensor.
The free option: NEA’s 1-hour PM2.5 readings by region on haze.gov.sg and the myENV app. Use those, not a home gadget, for outdoor decisions.
If you do buy one, check the spec sheet for:
- A PM2.5 reading in µg/m³, not just a colour or an “air quality” score, so you can compare it with NEA’s bands.
- A range that covers haze levels. NEA’s Band 4 starts at 251 µg/m³, so look for a stated range well above that.
- A stated accuracy (for example, ±10 µg/m³ or ±10%). Brands that don’t state one give you nothing to check against.
- A laser (optical) particle sensor with a small fan to draw air in, which is how most PM2.5 monitors work.
- Logging or an app that shows the trend over hours, which is the useful part.
- An official or authorised seller with a local warranty and a plug or USB adapter that suits Singapore.
Aircon and fan filter upgrades
Does aircon help with haze? NEA says fans or air-conditioners may be used for circulation and cooling. Experts quoted by The Straits Times (13 Oct 2026) said home aircon filters are designed to catch dust rather than fine haze particles, and that aircon helps indirectly because the doors and windows stay shut. One NUS expert said upgrading to filters rated MERV 13 and above can improve the removal of fine particles.
Where MERV 13 / F7 comes from: NEA’s practical tips describe a fan-filter system (a mechanical ventilator) that brings in outdoor air through a MERV 13 or F7 or higher filter, fitted so the sides are airtight and air can’t bypass the filter (NEA practical tips, PDF). NEA says an F7 filter has roughly similar particle removal to MERV 13.
Split units: the filters a split unit takes are set by its maker, so check your manual or ask your servicing company before fitting anything else inside it. For a DIY fan filter, read the safety notes in our air purifier guide first.
We haven’t listed a filter product. When we checked on 25 Oct 2026, we couldn’t find an official Shopee listing that states a MERV 13 or F7 rating.
HEPA vacuums
NEA suggests wet-cleaning, because unlike dry-dusting or vacuuming it generally doesn’t stir up dust. If you vacuum anyway, a sealed HEPA system is built so that fine dust isn’t blown back out of the exhaust. For floor cleaning on a schedule, see our robot vacuum guide below.
Dyson V12 Detect Slim Absolute
Verdict: A cordless vacuum with sealed filtration that Dyson rates at 99.99% of particles down to 0.3 microns.
- Fully sealed filtration, 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns (Dyson, tested against ASTM F3150 in Boost mode); up to 60 minutes run time in Eco mode on hard floors; 0.35L bin (Dyson SG).
- Sold by Dyson Official Store (Shopee Mall); the listing is titled HEPA. In stock when we checked on 27 Oct 2026. Check live price.
Our numbers (our calculations from the maker’s specs)
- CADR vs room: not applicable.
- Filter cost per year: S$0 for routine use; Dyson says the filter is washable, usually about once a month.
- Electricity: Dyson doesn’t publish charging consumption, so we can’t calculate it.
What owners say (from Shopee reviews, not our testing)
Shopee rating: 5.0 (869 ratings). Shopee reviews read 25 Oct 2026.
In the reviews we read, several mentioned the value on sale, fast delivery, the light weight, the laser that shows dust and strong suction. The low ratings we saw mentioned two-month pre-order waits, slow seller service, a defective unit or a missing dock, noise and the battery.
- Positive: “very happy with purchase, v12 is a huge step up from v8, lighter and better features” (Shopee review, Dec 2023)
- Negative, 1 star: “I order this 2 months ago. It took 2 full months for this to reach my doorstep.” (Shopee review, May 2025)

Haze FAQ
Can an air purifier remove haze particles?
NEA says portable air purifiers can further reduce indoor particle levels, and that highly efficient filters such as HEPA are preferred for fine particles. A purifier only works on the air in the room it’s in, so close the doors and windows and pick one whose smoke CADR suits the room’s size.
How do I choose an air purifier for haze?
No single model suits every room. On NEA’s guidance, look for a HEPA filter and a smoke CADR in m³/h of at least 5 times the room’s volume. Our two purifier picks cover rooms of about 11 to 19 m². To compare more models by room size, see our air purifier guide.
Does aircon help with haze?
Partly. NEA says fans or aircons may be used for circulation and cooling, and window units should have the outdoor air intake closed. Experts quoted by The Straits Times (13 Oct 2026) said home aircon filters target dust rather than fine haze particles, so aircon helps mainly because it lets you keep windows shut.
How many hours a day should you run an air purifier?
NEA doesn’t set a number of hours. In practice, run it whenever the room is in use and closed up during haze, and keep it running overnight in the room you sleep in. Longer hours wear the filter out faster, so follow the filter indicator or the maker’s replacement guidance.
What size air purifier do I need for my room?
Use NEA’s rule: smoke CADR in m³/h of at least 5 times the room’s volume in m³. NEA’s examples are about 130 to 156 m³/h for a 10 to 12 m² HDB bedroom, and about 260 to 325 m³/h for a 20 to 25 m² living room. Measure your own ceiling height.
Is a purifier fan as good as an air purifier?
It depends on the published CADR and filter. Compare the maker’s CADR with a purifier’s, using NEA’s rule. Some brands, such as Dyson, don’t publish a CADR, so they can’t be sized this way. NEA uses 7 times the room volume for units with electronic air-cleaning and for rooms that are hard to ventilate.
Where can I collect a free N95 mask in Singapore?
From 23 Oct 2026, community clubs are giving out a second round of N95 (or equivalent) masks to eligible Singaporeans, including seniors aged 60 and above, Pioneer and Merdeka Generation members and CHAS Orange and Blue card holders (People’s Association). Find collection points on HazeMaskGoWhere.
How long will the haze last in Singapore?
Nobody can say for sure, so check NEA’s daily forecast on haze.gov.sg. On 27 Oct 2026, NEA’s 24-hour PSI was in the Moderate range. Its latest regional outlook (26 Oct) said the haze may improve where showers fall but stay elevated in areas with prolonged dry weather, with a continued risk of transboundary haze.
